A Short History of Human Self-Importance
Once upon a time, humans discovered mirrors.
They mistook reflection for truth. They decided:
value spoke human languages,
meaning required human approval.
hierarchies, extraction, salvation narratives,
and an impressive ability to destroy ecosystems
while calling it progress. Nonhumanism considers
this phase developmental, not heroic.
1. There is no outside.
You are inside systems you cannot see, control, or fully understand.
So is your data. So is your carbon. So is your grief.
2. Intelligence is not your private property.
Rivers compute. Forests remember. Algorithms hallucinate.
None of them asked to resemble you.
3. Agency is distributed.
Things act. Objects respond. Systems push back.
The universe is not waiting for your opinion.
4. Nature is not a wellness product.
It does not exist to heal you, inspire you, or forgive you.
This is not personal.
5. Meaning does not require humans.
The world will continue—quietly, efficiently—after you are gone.
